National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Week

This week is National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Week, where we remember and pay respect to those officers who have died in the line of duty serving their towns, counties, state and country.  Almost 20,000 officers have been killed in the line of duty since the first one in 1791, a Sheriff in Columbia County, NY.  Last year 127 officers died in the line of duty nationwide.  In Anson County we have had 8 officers to die in the line of duty over the past 100 years.  ANSON COUNTY OFFICERS WHO DIED IN THE LINE OF DUTY  Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 15th,  at 12noon in the courthouse in courtroom #1 we will have a ceremony remembering those 8 officers and their families as well as honoring the officers who protect and serve us day and night the year around.  I want to invite each of you to this ceremony.  It will last about 20 minutes or less.  I believe you will find it very moving.
