The Anson County Health Department -- March of Dimes!

The Anson County Health Department PROUDLY announces the return of the March of Dimes!

The walk will take place on Saturday, November 16th at the Anson High School Track.

Our walk will be just in time to highlight World Premature Awareness Day (which is November 17th).

This is the 75th anniversary of the March of Dimes since it was founded in 1938 by president, Franklin D. Roosevelt, in an attempt to combat the crippling disease, polio.

As a result of the 75th anniversary, our goal is to raise at least $7,500!

(But let’s show everyone that a small place like Anson County can blow that out of the water!)

Did you know!?

In an average week in North Carolina:

·         2,314 babies are born.

·         334 babies are born preterm.

·         203 babies are born low birth weight.

So, with that said, let’s all come together and fight to save babies!

This year’s ambassador family is Joel and Lenelle White of Peachland, NC, as their son, Luke, was born last year prematurely and in July, just celebrated his FIRST birthday!  (Yay Luke!)

To form a team, donate, sponsor (all donations are tax deductible, some are 100% deductible!) or have a fundraiser, please contact me at for more information or for any inquiries.  I have Banners, coin boxes, “blue jeans for babies” stickers and other fundraising opportunities available here at the health department.

The Anson County Walk can be found on the March of Dimes website: and select “March for Babies- Anson County”

Teams can also be registered on this website!

We will also have the signs available for purchase to walk in honor or memory of a baby that can be decorated ahead of time and will be displayed the day of the walk around the track.

Thank you in advance for your support and I hope that each of you have an excellent day!
