The Anson County Arts & Heritage Festival, held in May, is co-sponsored by the Anson County Arts Council, the Anson County Historical Society, Anson Community College, and the Anson County Chamber of Commerce.
"Sneydsborough: A Ripple in the River" is presented in June by the writers' Club. The outdoor drama depicts a 70-year span in the life of the river port, Sneedsborough, now a ghost town located in the southeastern region of the county.
The Lilesville July 4th Fun Festival is held annually, sponsored by the Lilesville Civic Builders Club and the Cowan Recreation Center. Crafts, food, and entertainment are offered during the day. The highlights of the festival include a parade, a street dance and fireworks display.
People Fest, sponsored by the Town of Wadesboro, is held annually in October in the downtown area. Food, crafts, entertainment, children's activities, kiddie tractor pull, pet show and petting zoo are offered during the day. The fest is capped off by an 8 p.m. concert at Shelton Ball Field and a fireworks display at 10 p.m.
The Ansonville Homecoming Celebration centers around the fire department and rescue squad's annual barbecue (chicken, pork, and beef). Crafts entertainment and a parade highlight the daylong celebration each November.
The Community Services Division of Anson Community College sponsors a lecture series and travelogue series at the library's Little Theater.
The Anson County Historical Society is a source for genealogy information, and maintains the historic Boggan-Hammond House and the Alexander Little Wing. The society recently moved into new quarters in the Craig Building, 206 E. Wade St., Wadesboro; telephone 704-694-6694.
The Anson County Arts Council sponsors an in-school program which brings the arts and music to the classroom. The arts council sponsors grants to organizations and school teachers to enhance the cultural awareness in the community.
The Burnsville Learning and Recreation Center administers to local youths, who learn through special projects and heritage exploration.
The Anson Children's Theater and the Anson County Writers' Club produce the annual play. "Christmas at Knox Inn," which was written by members of the writers' club and is based on characters from the outdoor drama, "Sneydsborough; A Ripple in the River".
